Philosophy of Education
"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing you can do is keep your mind young."
With these words, Mark Twain said it best. I know that the world is a changing place and we can learn so much everyday from the people around us. I may teach young adults reading, writing, spelling, and about our faith, but the students are constantly keeping me up-to-date and helping me stay “young”. With that being said, I try to create an educational atmosphere where students feel free and comfortable to help each other and express their opinions and feelings. I never discourage my students from writing about their true feelings or telling me when something is bothering them. I always strive to gain the respect and trust of all my colleagues, students, and their families all while maintaining a positive learning environment.
All About Me
Since August 2004 I have been teaching at Carroll Catholic School. I graduated from WIU in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In 2007 I received my Master’s degree in Education with a focus on literacy from Dominican University.
I have two wonderful sons, Carson (who is a CCS graduate and a Sophomore at LCHS) and Carter (who is in seventh grade at CCS this year). My husband, Howie, and I have been married since September 24, 2005. Howie is the custodian at CCS, so it truly is a family affair for us!
I look forward to spending my many years in education teaching here at Carroll School.
I also serve in the position of Athletic Director for CCS. Sports is something that I have always loved, and I look forward to the added challenges each year. Please be patient with me as I accommodate this responsibility into my daily schedule.
