Spelling is pretty independent. Each week, students get a new word list (can be found in their spelling book or by clicking on the link below). On Monday, a pretest is given for this word list. If they spell all of their words correctly, they will not have to take the test on Friday. If they do not spell all of their words correctly, they have to write all of the words they misspelled 5x each and turn this in by Friday. Also due Friday is a spelling lesson. This is found in the spelling book and can be tore out and turned in as the lesson is completed. Friday students will take a final spelling test.
There are 20 words on each spelling list. On the Friday test, there are an additional 5 words given that are considered extra credit. I encourage all students to try these words, as they do not count against them if they spell the word wrong. These words are listed as "Challenge Words" on the first page of the lesson.
Every six lessons is a spelling review. Students will have 50 words for these lessons. The words are repeats from the previous five lessons. There are no extra credit words in these lessons.
